History

The Aleza Lake Research Forest began as a BC Forest Service Experiment Station in 1924, and was the first Experiment Station in the province. Many of the early research plots are still maintained today and have been remeasured continuously for nearly 80 years.

Publications about the Aleza Lake Experiment Station’s history include:

Devil’s Club, Black Flies and Snowshoes: A history of Aleza Lake Forest Experiment Station 1940’s to 1964 (and beyond). By John Revel, 2007.
